Capps Home Building Center – Altavista is seeking a CDL Driver for our Altavista location.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Master of Logistics: Take ownership of your route. Plan your itinerary, verify every load for 100% accuracy, and ensure our premium products arrive in perfect “Capps Quality” condition.

  • Elite Equipment Management: Lead the way in safety and maintenance. You’ll be responsible for a high-performance vehicle, keeping it site-ready, clean, and safe through proactive daily checks.

  • On-Site Expert: Be the hero of the job site. You’ll scout for hazards, protect materials from the elements, and coordinate directly with contractors to ensure every delivery is a success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven Road Professional: A high school graduate with a solid CDL driving history in the building supply industry and a clean record that reflects your commitment to safety.

  • Strength & Grit: The physical and mental stamina to conquer the demands of the job—including the ability to move up to 120 lbs. across diverse and challenging job site terrains.
  • Product & Logistics Intelligence: A strong foundation in construction materials and basic record-keeping, ensuring every delivery is documented with precision.
  • Specialized Rig Experience: Preference given to pros with experience operating piggy-back forklifts or millwork box trucks.
  • Dedication to the Mission: The reliability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of our builders and the community.

Warehouse Associate

JOB PURPOSE: The Backbone of the Build

You aren’t just moving inventory; you are ensuring that every contractor and homeowner receives the “Capps Standard” of quality through precision, safety, and a “customer-first” mindset. If you have the experience to lead from the floor and the drive to keep a world-class facility running smoothly, we want you on our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Delivering Excellence Every Day

  • The Ultimate Host: You are the first face our customers see. Greet, assist, and load materials with the kind of helpful energy that turns a first-time shopper into a lifelong partner.

  • Master of Precision: Build and stage “Perfect Loads.” Every delivery that leaves our yard is double-checked for quality and quantity, ensuring our builders have exactly what they need to succeed.

  • Inventory Architect: From receiving vendor shipments to restocking and tarping premium inventory, you take ownership of the yard’s organization and quality assurance.

  • The Driver’s Wingman: Work hand-in-hand with our delivery fleet—staging next-day loads, checking returns, and ensuring our trucks are secure, clean, and ready to roll.

JOB PURPOSE Are you ready to spend your season where the action is? Capps Home Building Center is looking for energetic, customer-focused team members to join our Moneta retail crew. As a Seasonal Associate, you are the “go-to” expert helping our neighbors get their lawn, garden, and home projects across the finish line. From the paint counter to the parking lot, you’ll be an essential part of the Capps experience during our busiest (and most beautiful) time of year.

YOUR SEASONAL MISSION (Essential Duties)

  • Be the Helpful Face of Capps: Greet every customer with a smile and a hand. Whether they need help finding the perfect mulch or loading up the truck, you’re there to make their project easier.

  • Master the Departments: Work closely with our Lawn & Garden and Paint teams. You’ll learn the ropes through our on-site training, becoming an expert in the products our lake community loves.

  • Keep It Professional: Help us maintain the “Capps Standard” by keeping the storefront and aisles looking sharp, replacing outdated tags, and ensuring our inventory is accurate through cycle counts.

  • The Power of the Load: Take pride in the “heavy lifting”—literally! You’ll be responsible for the accurate and safe loading of bagged goods and products directly into customer vehicles.

  • Team Support: Assist our veteran sales staff at the checkout counter and across various departments to ensure our customers never have to wait.
